Hopdoddy Burger Bar launches Smoke Show menu for April

For the month of April, Hopdoddy Burger Bar invites their customers into The Smoke Show, a month long experience celebrating musicians who march to the beat of their own drum in the spirit of 4/20 and are not afraid to light up for a little inspiration. The Smoke Show menu will be available at all Hopdoddy locations throughout the month of April and will feature items such as the Red Eyed Stranger Burger and the Gin & Juice cocktail. Hopdoddy, like the musicians they celebrate, continues to create original menu items inspired by the artists themselves who made their own way. For this reason, the restaurant will be jamming out to artists who are part of The Smoke Show lighting up with a menu that is certain to get diners into the spirit.

The April menu includes the following:
Red Eyed Stranger Burger
• Hemp & Oat seeded bun, red eye mayo, green chili sauce, tobacco onions, fried egg, country style seasoned pork patty
Gin & Juice Cocktail
• Gin, Pineapple, Lime, Guava
Young, Wild And Fries Shake

On April 20, Hopdoddy will serve a special 4/20 burger which will only be available that day:

• Pizza bagel top bun, Cool Ranch® dusted French fries, Flaming Hot Cheetos ® ketchup, deep fried Funyun® mayo on a taco patty

Along with a curated menu, Hopdoddy will also be creating a playlist in the restaurant that celebrates music originals and the artists inspired by them. Guests can expect to hear music from artists who are known for smoking up and jamming out like Willie Nelson, Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg, Rihanna, Afroman, Bob Marley, Childish Gambino, Weezer, Amy Winehouse, Tove Lo, Lil Wayne and more. The beloved Austin-based burger chain has a total of 31 locations in seven states.

Lick Honest Ice Creams announces a new product: Vegan, gluten-free vanilla ice cream sandwiches. Lick is proud to announce a first of its kind for the growing Austin-born ice cream brand: a delicious ice cream sandwich that is free of all major allergens. The classic sandwich includes Lick’s creamy coconut milk ice cream, accented with vanilla and stuffed between two vegan, gluten-free soft chocolate cake cookies made from scratch in their Northwest Austin kitchen. For this year’s Spring flavors, Anthony and Chad gained inspiration from the Lone Star State, its bounty and childhood memories. The new flavors, available by the scoop or pint at all Scoop Shops, include but are not limited to, Sweet Cream & Strawberry: rich sweet cream ice cream featuring a swirl of our own strawberry jam made with freshly picked strawberries from local Texas farms; Peanut Fudge Swirl: roasted, salted Texas peanuts from Seminole, TX and rich fudge sauce swirl through creamy peanut butter ice cream and their vegan Carrot & Coconut Cake. The Spring Malt ‘Mallow is filled with handmade mini vanilla marshmallows using plant-based color pigments paired with malted sweet cream ice cream. With Fat Tuesday, March 5, around the corner, it is time to indulge in fun, traditional treats such as the colorful King Cake. San-Antonio-based restaurant/bakery, La Panadería is run by Mexican brothers José and David Cáceres who have always, and will always, continue to embrace bread cultura (culture). La Panadería is already known to provide San Antonians with their tortas, conchas, pan dulce and Rosca De Reyes fix all year long. For the first time ever, the bakery will be preparing a San Antonio spin on New Orleans’ traditional purple, green and gold colored King Cake. La Panadería’s ‘King Cake Rosca’ is their original Rosca de Reyes recipe with a twist: the sweet cake is covered with bright Mardi Gras-colored icing, sprinkles and filled with chocolate chips inside. For those who wish to fill up for Fat Tuesday, the special cake is available now through mid-March.

Fans of Shake Shack’s Chick’n Bites will be thrilled to know that effective today, Monday February 4, the Chick’n Bites will be available at the San Antonio Shake Shack (excluding stadiums and airports) for a limited time. Chick’n Bites are made from antibiotic-free chicken breast, hand-breaded and crisp-fried to order, served with choice of dipping sauce. CIA Bakery Café at new restaurant Savor

Savor, the new Modern American restaurant that opened this month at Pearl, is also now home to The Culinary Institute of America’s annual pop-up CIA Bakery Café. Under the direction of CIA faculty, students will be preparing and serving breakfast and lunch for the public with dine-in and takeout options. (CIA Bakery Café, 2019)

CIA Bakery Café is open from January to April. Students in the college’s Baking and Pastry Arts major have the opportunity to showcase their skills in a real-world retail bakery and sit-down restaurant. For breakfast and lunch on weekdays, Savor will transform into a café serving a range of fresh dishes. Morning offerings include fresh pressed coffee with a nitro brew and pastries like alfajores, traditional shortbread cookies with a dulce de leche filling, popular throughout Latin America. The breakfast menu includes items like Sylvia’s Brioche French Toast with macerated berries and whipped crème fraiche or a Pressed Egg Sandwich with spinach, mushroom, prosciutto and gruyere. Lunch will include homemade soup, salad and sandwiches such as the Fried Chicken Cubano with crisp chicken, gruyere, Dijon and sour pickles plus Chicken and Dumplings, potato gnocchi with porcini mushroom ragu.

COVER 3 in San Antonio will be participating in Culinaria’s annual San Antonio Restaurant Week, which begins on Monday January 21 and will run through Saturday February 2, with a specially designed menu for the week. (COVER 3, 2019)

COVER 3 invites patrons to celebrate San Antonio Restaurant Week with their specially curated lunch and dinner menus. Guests can enjoy select lunch offerings like the Culinaria Salad featuring mixed greens, heirloom tomatoes, feta and oregano vinaigrette; the French Onion Truffle Burger, made with a half-pound Angus beef patty, with caramelized onions, roasted garlic and herb truffle aioli, gruyere cheese and crispy onions served on a brioche bun; and COVER 3’s Hot Chicken Sandwich, a hot honey glazed crispy chicken breast and signature slaw on a ciabatta bun. Dinner offerings include a delicious Braised Beef Short Rib made with a red wine demi-glace and served with a side of creamy garlic mashed potatoes and carrots; Texas Carbonara made of fettuccini noodles, pancetta and shallots in a spinach and parmesan cream sauce and topped with a soft-boiled egg; and the Mediterranean Grilled Salmon, served with vegetable couscous, roasted red peppers and olive vinaigrette.

National Coffee Day 2018

National Coffee Day is a special day that is used to promote and celebrate coffee as a beverage, to promote fair trade coffee and to raise awareness for the plight of coffee growers. It is observed every year on September 29 and this year it falls on a Saturday. Coffee lovers who would rather make their own cup of joe at home, there is a new product by the makers of Twang that will also allow them shop local. The San Antonio-based company introduces Café Zuca flavored sugar toppings, premium blends designed to help create that personal experience by customizing and adding a special touch to favorite food, drinks and tasty treats at home.
