San Marcos Premium Outlets will have extended hours during the Texas Sales Tax Holiday from August 9 through August 11.

Another school year is around the corner and it is time for the Texas Sales Tax Holiday. San Marcos Premium Outlets invites area residents and visitors to enjoy extended hours and great deals during tax-free weekend. (San Marcos Premium Outlets, 2019)

San Marcos Premium Outlets is pleased to offer shoppers the opportunity to purchase back-to-school necessities without paying sales tax on qualifying items in accordance with the Texas Sales Tax Holiday. The 3-day sales tax break begins on Friday, August 9 and ends on Sunday, August 11. During this period, retailers will not be required to collect state and local sales use tax on most footwear, clothing, backpacks and school supplies priced less than $100.

Before hitting the mall, shoppers can check out even more savings by visiting the Simon Retailer Showcase online where coupons and other retailer deals await.

Not sure what clothes are school uniform approved? Stop by Simon Guest Services at either property for a list of school requirements, which stores to find the appropriate attire and which stores have the best deals.

The Shops at La Cantera will celebrate National Puppy Day with a tail-wagging good time for pets and the owners who love them. From noon to 4p.m. on Saturday, March 23, enjoy an afternoon of pup-friendly fun including fashions, pet adoptions, puppy brunch, giveaways, photo opportunities, treats and more. Models will grace the runway with furry friends in hand and shoppers will get a first look at new Spring styles. Plus, all pups strutting their stuff on the runway are up for adoption.

The Shops at La Cantera Pet Friendly Policy: Pets are welcome in all mall common areas, except the children’s play area and water fountains. Pet friendly merchants, businesses and dining establishments are identified through “Take One” brochures available at the mall management office and via mall directories and online. Pets must be on a leash and have up-to-date vaccination tags on the collar. For small dogs, using a carrier also is a smart way to go. Dogs must always be under the control of their owner. Guests must clean up after their canine friend. The Shops at La Cantera will provide six waste bag dispenser sites throughout the property.

The Shops at La Cantera Open Container Policy: Per the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, customers of legal age can purchase beer and wine from an on-site establishment with a Beer and Wine Permit and walk with the beverage throughout the property. Currently Luciano’s Pizzeria and Tiny Cantina operate under a Beer and Wine Retailer Permit and have agreed to sell and serve beer and wine in branded plastic cups to customers that wish to walk the mall property with these beverages. Customers will also receive a La Cantera wristband to wear while consuming the beverage on property. Retailers may decide if they want to allow customers to bring drinks into their stores on an individual basis.

Mexican-inspired pop-up shops at Pearl this Fall

This holiday season, Pearl is welcoming Mexican-inspired pop-up shops to get guests into the holiday shopping mood. These shops will feature a variety of handcrafted collections, ranging from vintage Mexican masks to high-end artisan apparel and accessories and will available through December. (Pearl, 2018)

In conjunction with Pearl’s second annual Día de los Muertos celebration November 1 and 2, Mexico City-based artist Karima Muyaes comes to Pearl to sell and showcase her Día-themed artwork. As an internationally renowned artist and printmaker, Muyaes creates artwork with iconic imagery and characteristic style. Large format paintings, prints, paper skulls and vintage Mexican masks will be available. Muyaes’ altar/ofrenda in honor of the 43 Mexican male students who disappeared in 2014 will also be on view.

Founded in June 2013 by Cristina Lynch, Mi Golondrina works with skilled artisans to pair centuries old embroidery techniques with modern styles. Each one-of-a-kind piece in the Mi Golondrina collection is handcrafted in Mexico while the finishing details are added by their talented team in Dallas, the end result being a curated collection of high-end artisan apparel and accessories.

Sunday June 17 is Father’s Day and there are only a few days left to shop for the perfect gift for dad. Area restaurants and stores have special deals that range from a day out to watch the soccer game to specialty donuts and clothing. Krause’s Cafe:
This year, Father’s Day falls on the same day as the highly anticipated Germany vs. Mexico World Cup game and Krause’s Café + Biergarten is hosting a special viewing of the World Cup game beginning at 10a.m. Patrons can watch the game with dad in the biergarten and whether they are cheering for Germany or Mexico, they can find over 70 beers on tap at the Biergarten from German steins of beers like Hofbrau and Franziskaner Hefenweizen to Mexican cervezas including Dos XX and Modelo. There will be authentic, tasty German fare that can be paired with the biergarten’s wide array of brews, from schnitzel and bratwurst with sauerkraut to Bavarian pretzels. For Father’s Day, the restaurant will serve up an off menu special of Grilled Ribeye Filet with bacon wrapped asparagus, baked potato, bordelaise sauce for $34. They will also have Manmosas (man mimosa) for $12.

Bakery Lorraine and Maybelle’s:
Maybelle’s at The Bottling Department will have Rum and Pecan Donuts and Bakery Lorraine will offer Bourbon Tobacco Macarons. These two sweet are not typically found at Maybelle’s or Bakery Lorraine and are exclusively for Father’s Day.

The Granary ‘Cue & Brew:
The Granary ‘Cue and Brew will offer a $45 Father’s Day gift package featuring one beer growler (64 oz) filled with any house beer, one bottle of The Granary spice rub and the limited edition 5th anniversary apron designed by Cruz Ortiz.

At Pearl:
Dos Carolinas will carry an exclusive Father’s Day collection including new guayaberas, sunglasses and belts. The Sporting District will host several Father’s Day pop-ups throughout the weekend. On Friday, June 15 the store will feature Mission Mercantile, the retailer known for handmade leather goods. On Saturday, June 16, Habana Cowboy, the vintage Airstream mobile cigar bar, will take over, offering free cigars to customers who make purchases of over $100 in store plus free shoe shines for fathers on Sunday.

Twang:
Dress up dad’s drink this Father’s Day with Twang beer salt. The pocket-sized bottles of beer salt make colorful additions alongside any six pack.
