At El Mirador
The restaurant celebrated for its classic Mexican cooking and outdoor space is helping guests who come to brunch at the Southtown favorite on Mother’s Day celebrate in style. Specials include $10 off all jarras of cocktails during regular brunch hours from 10a.m. to 3p.m. Jarras (pitcher) offerings range from margaritas and palomas to fresh-fruit sangria. Guests can fill up on delicious bronche items like Chorizo con Huevos and papas, panqueques, griddled pancakes, with cane sugar syrup, Don Julian’s Favorite, eggs scrambled with beef machacado & salsa rancher, Nachos Compuestos and Queso Flameado. March Madness at COVER 3

Attention sports fans: the NCAA Men’s Final Four basketball tournament is coming up this weekend in San Antonio at the Alamodome. The final four teams in the March Madness tournament (Villanova vs. University of Kansas + Loyola University Chicago vs. University of Michigan) will be facing off this Saturday, March 31, with the championship game on Monday, April 2. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, local businesses are offering special deals to make the day extra special, including Bakery Lorraine, Hotel Contessa, Boiler House, Southerleigh, Cover 3, Downstairs at Esquire and Rosella at The Rim. (2018)

Bakery Lorraine will offer special holiday-themed menu items during the month of February including Strawberry Pop Hearts, Grapefruit Tiramisu, Cherry Pistachio Tart, Raspberry Rose Japonaise, Chocolate Caramel Tart, Lavender Shortbread Hearts, Chocolate Pear Tart and Tuxedo Macarons.

Hotel Contessa is offering a pre-fixe dinner menu on Valentine’s Day priced at $55 per person. They will also be offering two Texas wine tour packages for couples.

Boiler House will have a pre-fixe Valentine’s Day themed dinner menu and Whiskey Flights. The Dinner menu includes specialty items such as Maine Lobster – Jumbo Lump Crab, Artichoke Fondue, Baguette Toast, Caramelized; diver scallops – leek and butternut squash risotto, kefir lime butter, poached asparagus and Warm chocolate pecan pie – brown sugar bourbon ice cream. The Cover 3 Valentine’s Day prix-fixe menu will feature four courses, including a dessert and each crafted to be enjoyed by two starting at 5p.m. The following day, February 15, also known as Single’s Awareness Day, COVER 3 will also offer the same prix-fixe menu after 5p.m. for those wishing to instead celebrate their independence. Women wishing to celebrate Galentine’s Day with their girlfriends on February 13 are welcome to visit COVER 3 anytime that Tuesday for half-priced bottles of wine that are being made available throughout the day. Dinner Items Include: Grilled Snapper Veracruz and Blackened Filet Mignon.

Rosella at the Rand will offer a $75 pre-fixe dinner menu on Valentine’s Day featuring unique, off menu items with wine pairings at an additional cost. The menu includes Surf & Turf – sous vide boneless short ribs and scallops, complete with rainbow carrots and pomegranate demi-glace; Fowl – cornish game hen, purple potato gratin, wilted spinach and chicken glace and more.

New Year’s Day specials at COVER 3

To celebrate the new year, all Cover 3 locations in Austin and San Antonio will offer brunch on Monday, January 1, an offering normally reserved for only Saturday and Sunday mornings. The full brunch menu will be available from opening at 11a.m. to 3p.m., including the popular U-Mix-It Bubbles and Bloody Mary Bar. The traditional lunch and dinner menus will also be available until close at 10p.m. COVER 3 will be screening each of the NCAA 2018 College Football Playoff games that afternoon and night which includes Georgia vs Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl at 4p.m. and Alabama vs Clemson in the Sugar Bowl at 7:45p.m. COVER 3’s brunch was recently named “Best Brunch” in Austin and San Antonio this year by Austin Monthly Magazine and San Antonio Current respectively, so this is a great opportunity to kick off the new year with some of the best local bites around.
