To celebrate the new year, all Cover 3 locations in Austin and San Antonio will offer brunch on Monday, January 1, an offering normally reserved for only Saturday and Sunday mornings. The full brunch menu will be available from opening at 11a.m. to 3p.m., including the popular U-Mix-It Bubbles and Bloody Mary Bar. The traditional lunch and dinner menus will also be available until close at 10p.m. COVER 3 will be screening each of the NCAA 2018 College Football Playoff games that afternoon and night which includes Georgia vs Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl at 4p.m. and Alabama vs Clemson in the Sugar Bowl at 7:45p.m. COVER 3’s brunch was recently named “Best Brunch” in Austin and San Antonio this year by Austin Monthly Magazine and San Antonio Current respectively, so this is a great opportunity to kick off the new year with some of the best local bites around. On New Year’s Eve, all COVER 3 locations will have normal business hours with traditional brunch, lunch and dinner menu offerings from 11a.m. to 10p.m. as well as various champagne specials.

San Antonians are invited to celebrate New Year’s Eve at Sternewirth, Hotel Emma’s bar and club room. Guests will be able to enjoy Latin jazz music by local icon Henry Brun and his international trio. A $20 cover fee will include champagne toast and party favors. Hotel Contessa is offering a pre-fixe dinner menu on Sunday, New Year’s Eve. Reservations are required for New Year’s Eve dinner, $55/person, $25/children ages 8-13 and children 7 and under eat free.
Boiler House will be serving holiday themed cocktails and dinner items on New Year’s Eve from 5 p.m. to close. The restaurant will also have their regular lunch menu along with special brunch items on New Year’s Day from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. New Year’s Eve Cocktail items include: Gingerbread Martini for $14 and Hot Buttered Texas Rum for $12. New Year’s Eve Dish items include: Lemon Chive Crabcake for $15, Calamari Piccata for $21, Roast Leg of Lamb for $29 and Eggnog Pound Cake for $8. New Year’s Day Brunch items include: Green Chile Pulled Pork, Poached Eggs & Popcorn Grits, Hangover Hash, BLT Mac & Egg and Barbacoa Sando.
Southerleigh will have specialty items for New Year’s Eve brunch and dinner. Southerleigh’s hours on New Year’s Eve are from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and will be closed on New Year’s Day. Brunch hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include House Cured and Braised Country Ham, Creamed Field Peas, Flash Fried Collards and Eggs Over Easy. Dinner hours: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and will include Slow Roasted Pork Shank, Hoppin John, Black Garlic spiked Spinach, Dijon Glace and Whole Fried Gulf Flounder, Creamy Crystal Butter, House Fries and South Texas Slaw. Guests will receive a complimentary glass of champagne to ring in the new year at 12 a.m.
Esquire Tavern will be celebrating New Year’s Eve with dinner reservations and sparkling wine to toast at midnight. There will be live music and more.
Rosella at The Rand will be serving regular Sunday brunch on New Year’s Eve from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The restaurant will then open the same evening for a FREE New Year’s Eve party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Rosella at the Rand will be open for New Year’s Day brunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Krause’s Cafe will have a self-serve Hot Chocolate bar, Bloody Mary bar and free black eyed peas on New Year’s Day. Restaurant hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. and will be celebrating the new year with a Munich Platter – A pork shank stands atop of mashed potatoes, chicken schnitzel, red cabbage, sauerkraut, assorted sausage, crisp pork belly and a side of Dunkel Sauce.
Pinch Boil House and Bia Bar will be hosting a crawfish boil with a Boil & Brews on New Year’s Eve, Eve, Saturday December 30 from 12p.m. to 3p.m. Guests can enjoy boiled crawfish or crab legs, shrimp and other seafood items. There will also be a DJ and cold beer.

Many venues around town are offering special Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve menus for guests who would prefer dining out. One of those is La Cantera Resort & Spa whose dining accommodations include SweetFire Kitchen. It is located on La Cantera Parkway and offers guests an authentic Texas experience. Guests can enjoy fine dining at SweetFire Kitchen either on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve. (SweetFire Kitchen, 2016)
On Christmas Eve there will be a ‘Twas the Night before Christmas menu from 5p.m. to 10p.m. Reservations can be made through open table or by contacting the concierge at (210) 558-6500. Reservations for eight or more can be made by contacting SweetFire Kitchen at (210) 558-2479. Appetizers include tossed winter greens, roasted butternut squash salad, roasted mushroom soup, baked Gulf oysters, Gulf crab cakes, house made pimento, ricotta, pepper jelly and garlic butter flatbread and wild mushroom flatbread. Main courses include crispy skin arctic char, Filet Mignon, Cider brined pork chop, whole wheat gnocchi, slow roasted prime rib and pan seared sea bass. There is a children’s buffet option for $25 and a dessert option for $15 per person.
The SweetFire Christmas Day Feast will be offered from 11a.m. to 8p.m. and is $65 for adults, $26 for children ages 5-12 and free for children under 4 years old. Reservations can be made by calling (210) 558-2479. The menu consist of a raw bar that includes items like California and spicy tuna rolls, a cheese and charcuterie station that has a selection of local and house made cheeses, a salad table with winter greens, quinoa and kale and wild rice, a carving station with turkey and prime rib, a sides station with broccoli gratin, roasted sweet potatoes, an action station that features made to order risotto and a bakeshop station.
The New Year’s Eve menu consists of action stations for $85 per person. It includes a raw bar with poached Gulf shrimp, Gulf oysters on the half shell and tuna ceviche, an antipasto bar with roasted tomato hummus, basil tomato tapenade and grilled asparagus, a chef’s carving station with smoked beef tenderloin and peppered duck, a winter salad station with warm Montrachet salad and beet and blue salad and a chocolate bar with warm chocolate mellow cake, chocolate tarts and salted caramel tarts.
