The Squeezebox announces Fiesta Packs To Go

Fiesta may have been postponed but San Antonians can still get their Fiesta fix this week. The Squeezebox is announcing “A Night in Old SQZBOX” with Fiesta Packs To Go for customers to enjoy at home. The package options include a 6 pack of beer plus Fiesta food favorites like Chicken on a Stick, Gorditas, Footlong Sausage and Footlong Corndog. The Fiesta foods will be catered by Berna’s Street Food. All packages include a FREE Twang Michelada Kit and Beer Salt. (The Squeezebox, 2020)

Availability will be on a first come, first served basis (pre orders have closed). 100 percent no contact pick-up. Payment only via debit and credit card. Pick ups will be available Thursday, April 23 through Saturday, April 25 from 6p.m. to 10p.m.

Fiesta Confetti Madness at North Star Mall

Everyone is invited to celebrate Fiesta at North Star Mall for the ultimate Confetti Experience on Friday April 19 and Saturday April 20 from noon to 4p.m. Shoppers will have a chance to enter a large wind tunnel confetti booth for a chance to grab the golden ticket to win a $250 shopping spree.  There will be five winners per day. Shoppers will receive a commemorative collectible North Star Fiesta Medal, while supplies last. (North Star Mall, 2019)

Mariachis and a DJ will provide festive music as the backdrop to activities that include flower crown making classes, fashions and make-up demonstrations. The Easter Bunny, furry, fluffy and full of hugs will be available for visits. Commemorative photo packages start at $29.99. All children under 12 receive a complimentary surprise when they strike a cozy pose with Ms. Easter Bunny located in front of Macy’s. The Easter Bunny will greet visitors during mall hours through Saturday, April 20, when she leaves to deliver eggs to children around the globe.

Pluckers to host first Fiesta celebration

Pluckers Wing Bar is hosting their first annual Fiesta celebration at the Selma location on Thursday, April 18. The first 200 Pluckers Club members to arrive and stay for the launch of Pluck Hunt will receive Pluckers’ first-ever limited-edition Fiesta medal. (Pluckers Wing Bar, 2019)

The celebration is family-friendly, with crafts, face painting and more starting at 6p.m. At 7:30p.m., Pluckers will launch their weekly signature game, Pluck Hunt, a scavenger-hunt style game guests can play in their seat. The host will ask teams to complete fun challenges and search for objects on their phones. The top two scoring teams and one randomly chosen team get to roll Pluckers’ giant dice for gift card prizes. Pluck Hunt will take place every Thursday at 9p.m., beginning May 2, at the Selma location.

April at Pearl is setting up to be a busy one with various activities planned for the whole family. Programming for the month includes Poetry at Pearl, a Mi Golondrina retail pop-up, the First Thursday Night Market, Bidi Bidi Party, a Battle of Flowers After Party and Día del Niño. Also, Gustav’s Geysers have reopened at Pearl Park, making it the perfect destination for spring time fun. (Pearl, 2019)

Poetry Month at Pearl in April – Various activations throughout Pearl Campus all month
In honor of National Poetry Month, Pearl will celebrate the art of the written word with various poetry-themed activations throughout the property. Pearl has commissioned local poets to create works in collaboration with select stores. Celebration of Things: Window Poems features the work of three San Antonio Poet Laureates and three Texas Poet Laureates; poems are installed on the storefronts of The Tiny Finch, Niche, Local Coffee, Bakery Lorraine, LeeLee, Vintage Bouquet Bar and The Twig. Typewriter Rodeo will also be at the First Thursday Night Market on Thursday, April 4, where Poem Wranglers will create free, custom poetry for visitors on their vintage typewriters. The Twig will have a book signing with Kari Anne Holt and Sean Petrie of the Typewriter Rodeo where they will sign copies their recent publication “Typewriter Rodeo: Real People, Real Stories, Custom Poems.” All events are free and open to the public.

Mi Golondrina Pop Up – March 5 – June 1 from 11a.m. to 5p.m.
Mi Golondrina, a collection of handcrafted high-end artisan clothing and accessories made in Mexico, returns to Pearl. Guests can shop the collection at the Pearl pop-up store, located next to Niche and The Sporting District.

First Thursday Night Market – Thursday April 4 from 4p.m. to 8p.m.
First Thursday Night Market returns to Pearl for the month of April. Visitors can shop with their favorite local Farmers Market vendors and artisans while enjoying music by regional performers. Mojo-Ramba will perform at Pearl Park from 5:30p.m. to 7:30p.m. and. St. Duke’s in Pearl Parkito from 4p.m. to 8p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Bidi Bidi Party – Tuesday April 16 from 6p.m. to 9p.m.
Pearl will host a Bidi Bidi Party on Tuesday, April 16 from 6p.m. to 9p.m. at Pearl Park. DJ Manolo Black will spin the best of cumbia and Latin music to honor the Queen of Tejano. The event is free and open to the public with food and drinks for sale at the Bottling Department.

Battle of Flowers After Party at Pearl – Friday April 26 from 12:30p.m. to 5p.m.
Pearl will host its annual Battle of Flowers After Party at Pearl Park. Guests can enjoy specials from the Bottling Department while dancing along to Sound Cream and DJ Catwalk. The event is free and open to the public with food and drinks for sale at the Bottling Department and Southerleigh Oyster Bar.

Día del Niño – Tuesday April 30 from 4p.m. to 6p.m.
Since 1925, Día del Niño is an annual celebration in Mexico honoring children and this year, Pearl brings the celebration to Pearl Parkito. Pearl will honor this tradition by partnering with the Instituto Cultural de México (ICM) to bring an evening of bilingual storytelling, traditional Mexican games, face painting, and more. Día del Niño is free and open to the public with food and drinks available for purchase throughout Pearl property.

With Fiesta right around the corner, Whataburger is hosting their third annual Fiesta Pop-Up Shop at their downtown restaurant where Fiesta fans can purchase their 2019 Whataburger Fiesta medals before they go on sale to the public. This Fiesta Pop-Up Shop event will be on Wednesday March 13 from 3p.m. to 5p.m. (Whataburger, 2019)

Guests can celebrate the launch of the 2019 Whataburger Fiesta medal with music, Fiesta décor and Whataburger flair. There will be a one-of-a-kind photo backdrop for fans to proclaim Team Fancy or Team Spicy. Fiesta is right around the corner in San Antonio and the medals have already started to show up around town. Yesterday at the second annual Fiesta Pop Up Store, Whataburger fans got a chance to buy an official Whataburger 2018 Fiesta medal before they went on sale to the public. Coinciding with San Antonio’s Tricentennial and all the history that comes with it, Whataburger’s Fiesta medal pays homage to the classics. The medal features a Whataburger No. 2 with crispy fries, decorated with glitter, and an ice-cold drink, all in bold, festive colors. Fiesta time in San Antonio means days of parties and events to celebrate the city’s diverse cultures and this year Jazz, TX is getting in on the action. The Pearl’s upscale music venue announces its Fiesta celebration of A Night in Old Jazz Texas on Wednesday April 19 and Wednesday April 26 from 8:30p.m. to 11:30p.m. This event will feature a special menu by Executive Chef Lorenzo Morales and a special performance by Mariachi Las Coronelas. This high energy all female group has performed for shows such as The Jimmy Kimmel Show, Will Ferrel’s Funny or Die Music and Comedy Show and more. Guests will be able to enjoy a Fiesta inspired menu with items such as Corn in a Cup, Chicken Tinga Quesadillas, Beef Gorditas, Duck on a Stick and Carnival Funnel Cake. Fiesta is right around the corner and this year Landry’s Seafood is hosting a Fiesta parade dinner on Monday April 21 from 5:30p.m. to 10p.m. for parade goers who wish to have a front row view for the Texas Cavaliers River Parade either on the patio or inside the dining room. The evening will consist of a four course prix fixe menu for $110 per person and includes tax and gratuity. Tickets are limited and are available online. The courses consist of a house trio appetizer consisting of seafood stuffed jalapeno ,shrimp enbrochette and stuffed avocado, a grilled watermelon salad, a choice between Fiesta Mahi,ultimate surf and turf platter or Cornish game hen and  for dessert a chocolate cake and cheesecake.(Landry’s Seafood, 2017)

Fiesta San Antonio started in 1891 as a one parade event to honor the memory of the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto. Since then it has grown into one of biggest festivals with an economic impact of millions of dollars and celebrates the city’s rich and diverse cultures. It is called
a party with a purpose because it raises funds for non-profits around the city.
