Pearl Unveils New Outdoor Ice-Skating Rink for the 2025–26 Holiday Season

SAN ANTONIO — Pearl is bringing even more magic to the holidays this year. The beloved destination announced that its anticipated mini golf experience will transform into a sparkling outdoor ice-skating rink for the 2025–26 season. (Pearl, 2025)

The rink opens Friday, November 28, 2025, and will welcome skaters through Sunday, January 4, 2026. Guests are invited to lace up their skates and enjoy a festive winter escape right in the heart of San Antonio. Make an evening of it by stopping by Pearl’s Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in Pearl Park, perfect before or after some time on the ice.

The Squeezebox to host Familia, Food & Oldies this Sunday

This Sunday December 15 at 6p.m., The Squeezebox will be hosting “Familia, Food & Oldies,” a holiday celebration. The event will include FREE cabrito tacos while supplies last and all the accompanying sides, prepared by local chef Teddy Liang. DJ Aaron Peña will be spinning oldies all night. In the spirit of the holiday season, local businesses often give back to the community by hosting events, volunteering and giving out gifts. The Pearl continues to host a variety of events and activities to celebrate the season.  Coming up next is the Holiday Night Market this month followed by Chanukah and a Posada in December.  Everyone is invited to celebrate the joys of the season at the trendiest place in town which also happens to be family and pet friendly. Holiday Night Market: Starting November 29
Pearl is excited to host a holiday night market every Thursday starting November 29 through December 20 from 4p.m. to 8p.m. with Farmers Market vendors, additional craft vendors, live music and holiday activities. Stock up on gifts from handmade soaps to artisan goat cheese and gourmet dog treats. Pearl will also light up the property Thanksgiving weekend to kick off the holiday season. The dates for the holiday night market include November 29 and December 6, 13 and 20.

Chanukah: December 3
Pearl welcomes back the 4th annual holiday tradition in partnership with Young & Jewish San Antonio (YJSA) with the Chanukah Menorah lighting celebration on Monday December 3. The festivities at Pearl will bring the entire San Antonio community together from 6p.m. to 7:30p.m. The Menorah at Pearl will be lit each evening of Chanukah.

Posada: December 19 
Inspired by the Mexican tradition of Las Posadas, Pearl host its second annual traditional Posada on Wednesday December 19 from 6:30p.m. to 9p.m. Community members are invited to join the posada and become pilgrims traveling by candlelight. Las Posadas is a nine-day Christmas celebration in Mexico and Latin America, centered on the ritual re-enactment of Mary and Joseph’s quest to find lodging in Bethlehem. The evening includes children’s crafts, piñatas and custom Mexican treats of buñuelos, tamales and Mexican hot chocolate. This event is free and open to the public.

Annual Winter Whataland

Whataburger periodically hosts events to help the community and its various schools. These events have ranged from “Oh Whata Nights” to jalapeño eating contests, drawings and raffles. On Friday December 22, Whataburger hosted their annual Winter Whataland at Whataburger’s home office. Nearly 200 children from St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home (St. PJ’s), Respite Care of San Antonio and The Children’s Shelter were treated to a holiday celebration that included an indoor bowling alley, a giant soccer pool party, storytellers, a snow treasure hunt and a globe photo booth. There were also appearances by robot dancers, Santa, and Whataguy, Whataburger’s mascot. This yearly celebration is a way for the Whataburger Home Office volunteers to partner with these organizations and spend quality time with the children and celebrate the holiday season. Whataburger has been making burgers since 1950 when Harman Dobson opened a humble hamburger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. He wanted customers to take one bite and say, “What a burger” so he named his stand on Ayers St “Whataburger.” Whataburger now has over 700 locations across the country and continues to deliver fresh, made to order meals everyday with superior customer service. Community support includes charitable giving and volunteerism to nonprofit organizations that focus on children’s charities, cancer research, hunger assistance, disaster relief and military support.

‘Rainforest Cafe: A Wild Place to Shop and Eat’ in downtown San Antonio is getting into the holiday spirit by hosting ‘Breakfast with Santa’ events this month. Dates for these events are Saturday December 10, Saturday December 17, Sunday December 18 and Friday December 23 from 8a.m. to 10a.m. Children and families are invited to spend a morning with Cha! Cha! and Santa during a special event that features traditional breakfast favorites. It will also include fun, family friendly activities, raffles, prizes, sweet treats, a photo with Santa and a special discount at the retail store.
