The finale of The Granary’s 2018 Guest Chef Dinner Series is this Thursday, September 6. The Granary ‘Cue & Brew is hosting world renowned Chef Bo Bech from Copenhagen for an exclusive one-night only event. The dinner will be guided by a “Fire and Ice” theme, and Chef Bo Bech will collaborate with Chef Tim Rattray on a 6-course menu for this special evening. All-inclusive tickets are available online for $225 and includes meal, wine pairing, tax and gratuity. Reservations are required and extremely limited. (The Granary ‘Cue & Brew, 2018)

Bo Bech, of Geist restaurant in Copenhagen, is an award-winning chef. Well-known in his home country as the fiery TV host of Denmark’s answer to Kitchen Nightmares, Chef Bech is a trailblazer of the Copenhagen food scene, offering his own take on new Nordic cuisine. After working in the kitchens of Alain Passard (restaurant l’Arpege), Michel Roux (Le Gavaroche) and Marco Pierre White, he first made his name in Copenhagen at Restaurant Paustian, where he was awarded a coveted Michelin star. Bech then opened the acclaimed restaurant, Geist, in 2011. Chef Bech also released his first book in 2017, ‘What Does Memory Taste Like?’, a tribute that chronicles the evolution of his personal cuisine.

The Granary’s Summer Chef Collaboration Dinner Series continues this Sunday July 22 at 6:30p.m. with the second dinner in the series. The three-part dinner series will focus on collaborative menus with nationally and internationally ranked chefs from various culinary backgrounds.  This Sunday, The Granary ‘Cue & Brew’s Chef and owner Tim Rattray partners with Charleston Chef BJ Dennis for a Southern smoke potluck style dinner. Chef Dennis is known for hosting several pop-up dinners, especially in Charleston, where he incorporates Gullah Geechee cooking, a style of cuisine from the culture of the descendants of West African slaves who settled on the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia.   • Smoked goat with suya spice
  • BBQ ribs with pineapple bbq sauce
  • Okra and smoked sausage purloo (rice)
  • Gullah red rice

  • Stewed summer greens with smoked ham hocks

  • Cucumber salad

Cost is $85 per person plus tax and gratuity. Reservations are limited and can be bought online. The Granary has previously partnered with John Tesar of Knife Dallas in June and the final dinner is scheduled for August with acclaimed Chef Bo Bech of Geist in Copenhagen.

The Granary ‘Cue & Brew announces its Summer Chef Collaboration Dinner Series with acclaimed chefs from various culinary backgrounds. The first dinner in the series takes place on Sunday June 10 at 6:30p.m. with Chef John Tesar of Knife Dallas. Hosted by The Granary Chef and Owner Tim Rattray, the three-part dinner series will focus on collaborative menus with nationally and internationally ranked chefs, including John Tesar of Knife Dallas, BJ Dennis of Charleston and acclaimed Chef Bo Bech of Geist in Copenhagen. The first dinner on Sunday, June 10 is expected to be a steakhouse takeover by Chef Tesar. The seven-course menu will focus on Texas-sourced ingredients including a bacon tasting, venison tartare, oxtail ravioli, dry-aged rib eye and more. Reservations are required for guests who plan on attending any of the dinners and may be made on Open Table through The Granary or by calling (210) 228-0124. The dinner will be $85 per person and does not include tax and gratuity.

Chef Tesar is a four-time James Beard “Best Southwest Chef” semifinalist and “Top Chef” contestant. He specializes in modern American cuisine prepared with authentic European techniques, all served up to his guests at Dallas-based steakhouse, Knife. He has over 20 years of experience in the culinary world and has been featured in Esquire Magazine, Food & Wine and New York Magazine.

Upcoming dinners in the series include collaborations with Chef BJ Dennis in July and award-winning Chef Bo Bech of Copenhagen in September. Chef Dennis will turn The Granary’s patio into an intimate Southern smoke potluck-style dinner. He incorporates Gullah Geechee cooking, a style of cuisine from the culture of the descendants of West African slaves who settled on the coasts of South Carolina and Georgia. Chef Bo Bech opened Restaurant Paustian in 2004 and within four years, he received a Michelin star. His cuisine has been praised by Food & Wine, Bon Appetit, Travel + Leisure and more.

The restaurant celebrated for its classic Mexican cooking and outdoor space is helping guests who come to brunch at the Southtown favorite on Mother’s Day celebrate in style. Specials include $10 off all jarras of cocktails during regular brunch hours from 10a.m. to 3p.m. Jarras (pitcher) offerings range from margaritas and palomas to fresh-fruit sangria. Guests can fill up on delicious bronche items like Chorizo con Huevos and papas, panqueques, griddled pancakes, with cane sugar syrup, Don Julian’s Favorite, eggs scrambled with beef machacado & salsa rancher, Nachos Compuestos and Queso Flameado. Besides this excellent special on jarras, the patio at El Mirador makes for a beautiful view when toasting to mom.

Cask & Canine at The Granary ‘Cue & Brew

The Granary ‘Cue & Brew is getting into the Fiesta season with Cask & Canine this Thursday April 19 from 4:30p.m. to 10p.m. In partnership with Saint Arnold Brewing Co., they are hosting a pet adoption event with local animal rescue, San Antonio Humane Society. During this Fiesta Kick-Off event, guests can stop by the Granary to find a fur-ever friend or to enjoy a beer. The Granary will be tapping a special cask of Saint Arnold’s “Ale Wagger” and donating a portion from each cask sold to the San Antonio Humane Society. As passionate animal lovers, Saint Arnold’s “Ale Wagger” will also donate a portion to support local rescue organizations in the Houston area. “Ale Wagger” is a full malty body brown ale with hints of chocolate. This event is free and open to the public with beer and food available for purchase. The San Antonio Humane Society will have dogs for adoption on site from 4:30p.m. t o 6:30p.m. and the event will run until 10p.m. The Granary and Saint Arnold will be handing out free Fiesta medals.

The Granary ‘Cue and Brew has partnered with German winemakers Christian Hermann and Stefan Steinmetz, to host Winemaker Dinner, a specialty wine paired dinner, on Sunday April 8 at 6p.m. The evening will feature 12 different German wines and a six-course dinner expertly curated by Chef Tim Rattray. The specialty wine comes from Germany’s famed Mosel Rivery Valley region with over 2,000 years of winemaking history of producing the purest wine in the world. Tickets are $75 per person and reservations can be made online. (The Granary ‘Cue and Brew, 2018)

The dinner will begin with passed hors d’oeuvre of Texas elk and smoked bluefish then move on to a six-course dinner featuring pomegranate cured Ora King salmon, pork belly, barbecued beef with foie gras and more. Paired wines to be served include: Steinmetz Pinot Noir 2015, Steinmetz Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett Feinherb 2016, Steinmetz Piesporter Treppchen Riesling 2016, Steinmetz Kestener Herrenberg Riesling 2016, Steinmetz und Hermann Wintricher Geierslay Riesling Kabinett 2016, Steinmetz Wintricher Geierslay Riesling 2016, Steinmetz und Hermann Urziger Wurzgarten Alte Reben Riesling 2016, Hermann Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Kabinett 2016, Hermann Erdener Herzlei Riesling Spatlese 2015, Hermann Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese 2015 and Hermann Erdener Pralat Riesling Auslese 2015.
