Meditation is a practice that helps you achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state of being. You can do this by using a technique such as mindfulness or focusing your mind on a particular object, thought, or activity to train your mind to be attentive and aware. Sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? Well, I have tried to meditate before but my mind always wonders and eventually I give up. Thankfully, there are books that teach the basics including the benefits of meditating and tips to incorporate in your routine to get the most out of it. Dr. Samuel Steinberg’s book “Meditation For People Who Can’t Meditate” is an excellent guide to meditation. After reading a sample, I now know that you should start small, with 5 minutes, instead of trying to meditate for an hour right from the start. It has ancient techniques to help quiet your mind, like getting back to nature, and how to establish a daily routine to help you meditate. The chapters are small and the information is presented in list format that make it easy to learn. If you are interested in meditating and need a smart and resourceful guide, consider “Meditation For People Who Can’t Meditate.” 

Dr. Samuel Steinberg is a highly accomplished professional with a diverse range of expertise. He holds a Doctorate in Metaphysics and one in Theology. He also graduated from the Plant Based Nutrition program at Cornell University. In addition, Dr. Steinberg is a qualified special education teacher, a Yoga Alliance certified 500 E-RYT yoga teacher and educator, and a highly regarded meditation consultant to mental health practitioners and pain support groups. He is the author of several notable works, including “Meditation For People Who Can’t Meditate,” “Free Bird,” and “Parents Guide to Helping a Child With Learning Disabilities.” He has also written extensively on topics such as veganism, vegetarianism, anxiety, depression, positive self-esteem in children, autism in the workplace, chakras, and weight loss and fitness. Today’s new book release is “Turquoise Pearl: Eyes of Ember” by Reaver Seishin. It is a young adult novel about mythical creatures, sorcery, and wizards. If you are a fan of the genre, here is some more information about this new novel. After reading the first four chapters, this looks to be an interesting read. The setting has Lucy, a mermaiden who is over 3,000 years old with a dark purple tail, dark purple eyes and light purple pupils. She carries a lance and has powers that allow her to manipulate water: “Lucy raised her hand with an open palm as water began to swirl around it like magic…” Despite being an ocean god, she mingles with the populace and they have no problem interacting with her during the town’s festival. Right from the start, she bumps heads with Reaver, so it will be intriguing to find out how their relationship will handle them needing to work together. The language is descriptive and easy to understand and the action is mostly dialogue driven. Sounds like a novel you might enjoy reading? Pick up a copy today.

Overall, “Wholesome Horror Anthology” is a must read for horror fans who love a good plot twist, because sometimes illusions are the scariest when you do not see them coming.

New single: Two Faced – Stella Prince

Despite the topic of business, the language is easy to understand and follow because it contains practical advice for career and personal life. He shares inspirational stories to highlight the point he is making because stories make more of an impact than facts and figures ever could. His books are helpful and relevant because he adjusts his message to reflect the changing times and everyone can benefit from his advice, and this one is no exception. Highlights include Chapter 2: Networking that stresses the importance of networking not only in your select filed of work, but also reaching out to contacts outside of your circle; and Chapter 7: The Right Way to Make Your Mistakes that teaches the right way to approach making mistakes: “With humility and perseverance, we move forward and improve” – lesson learned: the biggest mistake is failure to LEARN from our mistakes. “The Ultimate Guide to Power & Influence” is an extremely useful guide that helps readers navigate the ever changing landscape of business as well as their professional and private lives. New San Antonio rock ‘n’ roll bar Gimme Gimme announces opening date

Gimme Gimme, a new rock ‘n’ roll bar coming to San Antonio, is excited to announce its official opening day, slated for Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Adjacent to the bar will be the concept A Perfect Day, a modern neighborhood wine bar, which will open on the same day. (Gimme Gimme, 2023)

Leading this exciting new concept are bar owners Roger Herr of Bar Loretta and Aaron Peña of Amor Eterno. Partners Michael Neff and Chef Paul Petersen of Bar Loretta will be overseeing the menu efforts, with Neff focusing on the bar program and Petersen leading the kitchen.

Gimme Gimme (think Ramones), will offer a rock ‘n’ roll experience with craft cocktails, a robust beer and wine list, and chef-driven food in the space formerly occupied by Francis Bogside.

“Growing up in San Antonio, I’ve always known our city as the home of rock ‘n’ roll. The inspiration for Gimme Gimme comes from wanting to create our own version of what we think a rock ‘n’ roll bar can be. Great music, great food, great cocktails, great service, and always a sense of humor. I’m super excited to share what our team has created,” said Owner Roger Herr.

The adjacent space, A Perfect Day, will offer a wine-forward, relaxed atmosphere with small bites, ready-made cocktails, and plenty of wine.

“I’m really looking forward to adding another space to Southtown that will be a totally different direction than our respective concepts that Roger and I are known for,” said Owner Aaron Peña. “Musically, the 14-year-old punk rocker version of my younger self is really excited to help curate the selection of tunes we will feature inside both Gimme Gimme and A Perfect Day – I think the neighborhood is going to love having an additional late night food and beverage option in the most walkable neighborhood in San Antonio.”
