✨ Country music fans are in for a treat — Ty Herndon has teamed up with Ashley McBryde to reimagine one of his most beloved hits, “A Man Holdin’ On (To a Woman Lettin’ Go).” The powerful duet bridges past and present, honoring Herndon’s legacy while showcasing McBryde’s fearless edge.

Ty Herndon and Ashley McBryde Reimagine Classic Hit “A Man Holdin’ On (To a Woman Lettin’ Go)”

NASHVILLE, TN — GRAMMY®-nominated country music icon Ty Herndon has joined forces with Ashley McBryde, Grand Ole Opry member and GRAMMY® Award-winning powerhouse, to reimagine his 1998 hit “A Man Holdin’ On (To a Woman Lettin’ Go).” (Aristo PR, 2025)

The haunting ballad of love, loss, and heartbreak is the second single from Herndon’s upcoming double album, THIRTY—a landmark project celebrating his three decades in country music. The album will be released in two volumes, with Volume One arriving this fall and featuring reimagined versions of Herndon’s greatest hits, each performed as collaborations with some of the genre’s most dynamic voices.

A Classic Reborn

Originally penned by Gene Dobbins, John Ramey, and Bobby Taylor, “A Man Holdin’ On” became one of Herndon’s signature songs in the late ’90s. With McBryde’s raw vocal edge paired with Herndon’s heartfelt delivery, the new rendition digs even deeper into the song’s emotional core—capturing the pain, poetry, and power of letting go.

“This song has always been one of the most emotional songs in my catalog,” said Herndon. “To revisit it with someone as fearless and gifted as Ashley was both humbling and electric. We didn’t just sing the song — we lived it.”

A New Chapter with Club44 Records

Released through Club44 Records, the track also marks Herndon’s next step in an exciting partnership with the Nashville-based label, known for championing bold vocalists and genre-defying artistry. The release is part of a newly announced three-album deal.

More than just an anniversary record, THIRTY is a declaration of endurance, artistry, and authenticity from one of country music’s most enduring voices.

About Ty Herndon

In 2025, Herndon will celebrate the 30th anniversary of his breakout single “What Mattered Most.” Between 1995 and 2002, he charted 17 singles, including three No. 1 hits, with fan favorites such as “I Want My Goodbye Back,” “Loved Too Much,” and “A Man Holdin’ On.”

Herndon has also broken barriers in country music. In 2015, he made history as the first major male country artist to publicly come out as gay. His artistry continued to evolve with albums like Journey On and Right About Now. His 2022 album JACOB produced the No. 1 independent country hit “Dents on a Chevy” with Terri Clark, which spent seven weeks at the top of the charts.

Celebrating 50 Years of The Rocky Horror Picture Show

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. At first a box-office flop in 1975, it went on to gross nearly $225 million and earn the distinction of being the longest-running theatrical release in history, fueled by decades of raucous midnight screenings.

But Rocky Horror is more than a movie. It became a movement — a communal ritual of fishnets, call-backs, and liberation that continues to ripple through fashion, nightlife, and music culture. From Vivienne Westwood’s SEX boutique to RuPaul’s Drag Race, its unapologetic celebration of queerness and nonconformity endures. (Magnum PR, 2025)

Mick Rock’s Lost Archives

Legendary photographer Mick Rock (1948–2021), often called “the man who shot the seventies,” had exclusive access to the set during the film’s original production. This fall, his long-lost archives are being unveiled in a stunning new book:

‘The Long Walk’ Finally Hits the Big Screen This September

The Long Walk is set for a September 12 release. Photo: IMDb.

Stephen King’s The Long Walk Marches to the Big Screen

The long wait is finally over – Stephen King’s dystopian horror classic, The Long Walk, is making its way to theaters. The highly anticipated adaptation is co-produced and directed by Francis Lawrence (The Hunger Games, I Am Legend) from a screenplay by JT Mollner. The cast includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Garrett Wareing, and Mark Hamill. The film will be released in theaters on September 12, 2025.

From Page to Screen

Originally published in 1979 under King’s pseudonym Richard Bachman, The Long Walk takes readers into an alternate America ruled by a totalitarian regime. Although not the first of King’s novels to be published, it was the first novel he ever wrote—started in 1966–67 during his freshman year at the University of Maine, nearly a decade before Carrie (1974) launched his career. (Wikipedia, 2025)

The Premise

At the heart of the story lies the annual competition known only as The Long Walk. One hundred teenage boys are chosen to compete in a brutal test of endurance:

  • Walk at a minimum pace of four miles per hour.
  • No stopping. No resting. No outside help.
  • Fall below the limit, and you get a warning.
  • Three warnings—and you’re out, permanently.

The “winner” earns The Prize—anything he desires for the rest of his life. But the catch? There’s no finish line. The contest continues until only one walker remains alive. (Barnes & Noble, 2025)

Meet Ray Garraty

The story centers on sixteen-year-old Ray Garraty, a reluctant competitor who enters the Long Walk against his mother’s wishes. As the march drags on, Garraty faces not only the physical strain of endless miles but also the psychological toll of watching ninety-nine others fall one by one.

Why This Adaptation Matters

The Long Walk is considered one of King’s most haunting works—a chilling blend of horror, dystopia, and psychological thriller. Its focus on endurance, survival, and the cost of authoritarian control makes it a story that resonates deeply today. Fans have been waiting decades for a faithful adaptation, and with Francis Lawrence at the helm, expectations are high.

Mark your calendars: September 12, 2025. The Long Walk begins.

Dynamic Guitar Duo: Keel & Stickley’s Self-Titled EP Drops September 5

Two master guitarists with distinct, complementary personalities join together for bold music full of depth, energy, and inspiration. Courtesy photo, used with permission.

Larry Keel & Jon Stickley Release Debut Duo EP

ASHEVILLE, NCLarry Keel and Jon Stickley have long been recognized as two of the finest flatpicking guitarists of this generation. Now, they’ve joined forces to celebrate the pure joy of acoustic guitar music with their new duo project. Their chemistry is undeniable—effortlessly weaving rhythm and lead, creating an intimate conversation between two guitars and two voices, while maintaining their own distinct musical personalities. (Dreamspider Publicity, 2025)

Their self-titled debut EP, Larry Keel and Jon Stickley, will be independently released on September 5. Pre-save/Pre-order here.

A Duo Years in the Making

“I’ve wanted this project to happen for so long!” Keel says. “Jon and I have been on many of the same bills all over the place for so many years, teaming up in jams, sit-ins, and campfire pickings, and yet we’ve never gotten our fill of playing together as guitar players—which we both seem to crave. So, now we’ve put this guitar duo act in motion, playing shows and making a record, and it feels great getting to scratch that itch.”

About the EP

The five-track collection blends lyrical songwriting with adventurous instrumentals:

  • “Future Ghost” – A shredding, dynamic instrumental that highlights the duo’s contrasting styles. Stickley describes the interplay as “very freeing and exhilarating.”
  • “Sailor Suit” – A cover of Steve McMurry’s 1990s Acoustic Syndicate tune, with Stickley on lead vocals.
  • “Pioneers” – Written by Keel during a 1990s tour along the Oregon Trail, this track reflects on the journeys of early settlers in the American West.
  • “Take the Air” – A Stickley original, inspired by David Grisman and Tony Rice, written in 7/4 time during the pandemic as a meditative, uplifting riff.
  • “Starborn” – Classic Keel: upbeat yet tinged with melancholy, closing with a spacey outro that serves as a tribute to a released soul.

Together, these songs push the boundaries of two-guitar arrangements, resulting in a progressive and compelling acoustic collection.

“Pioneers” is out as an early single. Stream/buy here.

Festival Favorites

Keel and Stickley are no strangers to the stage. Both have been staples on the bluegrass, Americana, and jam band circuits for years, sharing late-night jams and festival stages at Strings and Sol, Jam Cruise, DelFest, Hulaween, Suwannee Spring Reunion, Roots Revival, Hoxeyville, The Bender Jamboree, WinterWonderGrass, and Billy Strings’ Renewal, among many others.

The Keel Stickley Duo brings raw virtuosity, creative spirit, and late-night jam energy to every note. Their debut EP is just the beginning of an inspired new chapter in their musical journey.

Secrets, Games, and Paranoia: Reviewing Never Have I Ever

Damon Rickard’s Never Have I Ever. Photo: IMDb

Never Have I Ever (2025) – Movie Review

Directed by: Damon Rickard
Genre: Psychological Thriller / Horror
Where to Watch: Free on Tubi, or rent/buy on Amazon Video

Synopsis

Never Have I Ever follows Sam, a struggling screenwriter under pressure to repay an advance. His already stressful day spirals when he loses his wallet and faces a series of unsettling break-ins at home. A chance encounter with Mara, a mysterious woman, complicates things further.

At first, Mara seems sympathetic—offering to buy Sam drinks after he realizes he’s broke. But when the two begin playing the drinking game Never Have I Ever, disturbing truths about their pasts begin to surface. As Sam’s day unravels with increasingly bizarre events, the audience is left to question Mara’s true motives and the fragile nature of their connection. (One Tree Entertainment, 2025)

Cast

  • Andrew Lee Potts as Sam
  • Beatrice Fletcher as Mara
  • Amber Doig-Thorne
  • Matt McClure
  • Graham Skipper
  • Johnny Vivash

Review

Damon Rickard delivers a tightly woven psychological thriller that grips from the opening scene. Andrew Lee Potts gives a chillingly raw performance as Sam, capturing the turmoil of a man teetering between desperation and paranoia. Beatrice Fletcher’s Mara is enigmatic and unsettling, while Amber Doig-Thorne adds intensity to the already tense atmosphere.

Rather than relying on cheap scares, Rickard leans into psychological dread. The pacing is deliberate—sometimes slow—but it effectively mirrors Sam’s descent into paranoia. The claustrophobic atmosphere, unnerving dialogue, and blurred line between reality and delusion keep the audience guessing until the final moments.

The ending provides a twist that is both shocking and inevitable, leaving viewers satisfied without feeling betrayed. While the film is dialogue-heavy with minimal action, its strength lies in character-driven tension and its exploration of guilt, obsession, and manipulation.

Final Thoughts

Never Have I Ever is a haunting and rewarding watch for fans of psychological thrillers with a horror edge. Intelligent, suspenseful, and unsettling—it’s a film that lingers long after the credits roll.

The Berries Return: Matthew Berry’s Most Personal Album Yet

The Berries announces forthcoming new album. Photo: Ajalena Dewolf Moura, used with permission.

The Berries Announce New Self-Titled Album — Out August 29

A Return to Form for Matthew Berry

The Berries marks a pure return to form, delivering Matthew Berry’s strongest take yet on the hallowed tradition of the guitar-wielding singer-songwriter. The LP masterfully channels the tradition’s iconic sentiments—naked Americana, chemical winds whistling over barley shafts, longing-swollen livers, and pleading romance—while infusing them with a rich melancholy that is distinctly Berry’s. (another side, 2025)

Breaking from the Past

Berry describes the record as an act of survival and rebirth:

“This record came out of a need to break from my old self, to break from a lifestyle that I could no longer bear waking up to everyday. It’s equally fueled by remorse and relief—I can rejoice a bit in having found a renewed purpose, but I had to finally stare down everything that was standing in the way of that sense of dignity first.”

Sound and Structure

Sonically, The Berries draws inspiration from a long lineage of studio-centered pop songcraft—from the comedown genius of Tusk-era Fleetwood Mac to the reverb-drenched expanses of The War on Drugs.

The album unfolds as a series of impressionistic vignettes, each track carving out its own emotional terrain rather than conforming to established genre convention.

Lead Single: Angelus

On standout track and lead single “Angelus,” Berry threads together tender vocal melodies over a sparse progression, slowly building a wall of melancholy. The song resonates with a distinctly Californian desolation—capturing the loneliness of highway overpasses and the apocalyptic brightness of staring out across the Pacific.

Evolution of The Berries

The Berries began as a bedroom project—cosmic Americana and fuzzy guitar heroics that quickly secured Berry a multi-record deal with Run for Cover Records.

Since then, Berry has explored:

  • Berryland — country-inflected balladeering
  • Throne of Ivory — distorted, stadium-sized melodrama
  • High Flying Man — Californian burnout pop

Now, with The Berries, Berry steps fully into his role as a self-made studio auteur. Written in early 2025 and recorded that summer at engineer Jimmy Dixon’s home studio, the record reflects both urgency and precision, co-produced by Berry and Dixon.

Release Details

The Berries (self-released) will be available in stores and online August 29, 2025. It is available for pre-order/pre-save.

The Berries tracklist:

1 – Sedentary Blues
2 – Vagabond
3 – Angelus
4 – White Peach
5 – Wind Chime
6 – Run You Down
7 – Salt Of The Earth
8 – Lie In The Fire Again
