For one-night only, the highly anticipated restaurant from Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, Ladino will be hosting a sneak peek ticketed dinner in the Elephant Cellar at Hotel Emma on Tuesday, April 19 at 6:30p.m. Executive Chef of Ladino, Berty Richter is partnering with Chef John Brand to create a pre-fix menu featuring some of the dishes that will be at Ladino, which is slated to open in summer 2022. The team behind Emmer & Rye, the Austin-based, nationally renowned hospitality group, is excited to announce their latest concept and first concept for San Antonio, Ladino. Led by Executive Chef Berty Richter, Ladino will pay homage to Berty’s Sephardic roots with a menu centered around the charcoal grill which plays a lead role in the Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. Described as a Mediterranean Grill House, Ladino will be a celebration of all the cultures combined, starting from the decor, the ambiance and the music, to the beverages and food. Using a wood burning oven, Ladino will feature freshly made pita and other regional specialties accompanied by an abundance of Mezze, vegetables, spices, and herbs that are playful and bold. The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) San Antonio campus is excited to bring back its popular Bakery Café. Savor, CIA’s Modern American restaurant at Pearl, is hosting the pop-up bakery from now until April 12. Under the direction of Certified Master Baker Alain Dubernard, Chef Brian Krellenstein, and Hospitality and Service Management Instructor Angel Gonzalez, students in the college’s capstone course of Baking and Pastry Arts major will have the opportunity to showcase their skills in a real-world retail bakery and restaurant setting by operating both the front and back-of-house. Savor will transform into a pop-up café for breakfast and lunch, serving a range of fresh dishes Monday through Friday from 9a.m. to 1:30p.m. (The Culinary Institute of America, 2022)
Breakfast offerings include items like brioche French toast, house made croissant egg sandwiches, a roasted beef culotte potato hash with an over easy egg and a creamy pecorino polenta with sautéed mushrooms and soft poached eggs. Good Dog, a new 1,850 square foot dog walking, boarding, and daycare facility in the Pearl neighborhood, will open for service Wednesday, December 8 just in time for the holidays. The facility is owned and operated by Steven and Kaylee Bell, who have moved back home to South Texas after running a successful doggy daycare in Dallas. Good Dog is intentionally designed to be a safe and fun environment for smaller dogs, weighing 35 lbs. or less or measuring under 15” in height at the shoulder, but will provide walks for dogs of all sizes. Good Dog’s daycare and walk services are based on a monthly membership, while boarding services are offered to guests at a nightly rate. Additional enrichment play and one-on-one time with dogs is available as an add-on as well. Though the boarding and daycare services apply to smaller dogs only due to space limitations, thirty minute and one hour walks are available for dogs of all sizes and take place throughout the Pearl neighborhood and museum reach of the San Antonio River Walk. Pearl is excited to announce various programs and events happening on campus this holiday season. The property will begin the festivities with the installation and lighting of the Christmas tree later this month. CHRISTMAS TREE INSTALLATION & LIGHTING – November 19 Pearl will welcome a 25-foot Fraser Fir sourced from the mountains of North Carolina later this month. Following delivery, Ginger Diaz, owner of Feliz Modern POP and Rancho Diaz at Pearl, will decorate the tree, which will be officially lit on November 19. The tree will stay up in Pearl Park throughout the holidays for guests to enjoy.
CHANUKAH – December 1 from 6p.m. to 8p.m. Pearl and Young & Jewish San Antonio will gather to celebrate Chanukah with the lighting of the menorah on property as well as a special message from Rabbi Eli Block about the meaning of the holiday. Austin-based Klezmer band Mazel Tov Kocktail Hour will also perform at the lighting ceremony from 6p.m. to 8p.m. The menorah will be lit at the Pearl Shade Structure each night of Chanukah.
HOLIDAY NIGHT MARKETS – Wednesdays in December leading up to Christmas at varying times Each Wednesday in December leading up to Christmas, Pearl will host its Holiday Night Market featuring a wide variety of local vendors to help make holiday shopping easier. Guests can find unique gifts ranging from pottery and fine art to artisan chocolates and much more. Local bands and musicians will also be onsite throughout Pearl to perform festive sets. POSADA – December 16 from 6p.m. to 7:30p.m. In honor of the traditional Latin American Christmas celebration, Pearl will once again host the Mission Concepcion choir for an evening of carols in Pearl Park. Since 2017, Pearl has partnered with Father David and the Mission Conception’s choir and congregation to share a message of welcoming and inclusion. The procession, representing the journey of Mary and Joseph seeking refuge, will begin at 6p.m. on December 16.

Pearl continues its annual tradition of celebrating Día de los Muertos, celebrated November 1-2, with a community altar created by local artists and sisters, Manola and Maria Ramirez. The sisters are part of the all-female collaborative space, Lavaca Studios. Manola and Maria craft an altar dedicated to the San Antonio community and all their loved ones who have passed away. The artists will use ethereal elements in the space, such as cempasúchil (marigolds), papel picado, and strands of tinsel to give visitors the feeling that they are walking into a place of worship. The focal point and centerpiece of the altar will be a tinsel heart. The altar will be available from October 30 through November 7 for the public to view and share remembrances of loved ones. Visitors may also participate by lighting a digital candle for their loved ones who have passed. (Pearl, 2021)

Pearl is excited to announce a new creative partnership with San Antonio Street Art Initiative (SASAI) to help elevate the pedestrian experience on the east side of the property. Pearl has a long track record of celebrating and supporting local artists and this collaboration is the latest installment of that commitment. Five artists will be tasked with transforming the underpass between Broadway and Avenue A at Pearl into a dynamic mural that references the brand’s rich history in San Antonio through the lens of some of the region’s most talented street artists.
