Discover a Unique Business Opportunity: The Story Behind Pugona Rock Coffee Mugs

Entrepreneurship holds a powerful appeal for aspiring business owners because it represents possibility, independence, and the chance to create something meaningful from the ground up. For many, the draw lies in the freedom to shape their own path, choosing what to build, how to operate, and which values will guide their work. For those exploring small business opportunities, entrepreneurship opens doors to creativity and financial independence.

Unlike traditional employment, entrepreneurship invites innovation and encourages people to bring their unique ideas to life without waiting for permission. The promise of owning one’s future, transforming passion, skill, and determination into a business that reflects personal values, makes it one of the most compelling business ideas for retailers and future founders.

Meet the Entrepreneur: Allen Yhorst Kimble Jr.

Allen Yhorst Kimble Jr., a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, grew up in the mid-1950s and later entered the United States Air Force. He served one year in Vietnam, eight years across Asia, and completed a total of 11 years of military service. During his time in Southeast Asia, he discovered photography, a hobby he continues to enjoy today and one that eventually influenced his creative work and inspirational entrepreneur story. (Allen Yhorst Kimble Jr., 2025)

In 2001, while living in Orlando, Florida, he adopted a small pug named Vinny. After relocating to Phoenix following the 9/11 attacks, Vinny quickly adapted to the Arizona desert, climbing boulders, exploring rugged landscapes, and inspiring Allen’s picture-story book, “The Life and Times of Vinny The Pug.” This lovable canine would later become the heart behind one of the most unique pet-themed gift brands online.

The Birth of a Business: Pugona Rock Coffee Mugs

A creative and successful entrepreneur, Allen operates a wholesale-only coffee mug web store specializing in dog-themed merchandise. Each design in the Pugona Rock Coffee Mug collection is inspired by the real-life adventures of Vinny the Pug, making them standout products for boutiques, gift shops, bloggers, and anyone seeking unique gift shop merchandise.

Allen doesn’t sell individual mugs. Instead, he partners with retailers interested in wholesale coffee mugs, offering an accessible and profitable reseller opportunity:

  • Minimum order: 12 mugs
  • Wholesale cost: $10 each
  • Typical retail price: $20 each

This margin makes the mug reselling business a strong option for online stores, pet boutiques, artisan markets, and those looking to expand their product sourcing for small businesses with high-demand, story-driven merchandise.

Four Tips for Improving User Experience in Your Online Store

These tips for improving user experience can make all the difference. Photo: cottonbro studios/Pexels

User experience is everything when it comes to running an online store, and is something you should prioritize from the very beginning. When it comes to physical stores, everyone knows the importance of having a great-looking interior full of great products and enticing deals, and the same goes for the online environment.

Of course, that’s easier said than done, and in the beginning, it’s completely normal to stare at your landing page, wondering where to start or how to go about improving your first attempt.

This article is here to aid you. Here are four top tips for helping you design or redesign your website so that people want to shop there.

1. Start with Navigation

While having an aesthetically appealing site is important, you shouldn’t try to run before you can walk. Creating a site that’s nice and easy to navigate should be your first port of call.

First and foremost, you need to make sure that your potential customers have a clear path to the items you’re selling. It’s best to organize everything into a few broad but distinct categories with easy-to-use drop-down menus, and you could also use color, texture, and images to segment things in unique ways (and don’t forget to have a prominent search bar).

2. Developing a Quick, Easy, and Secure Checkout Experience

You should always endeavour to optimize your checkout experience where you can, as this element forms the very core of your online store. If it’s too long-winded and complicated for your customers to pay for the goods or services they want, they’re much more likely to abandon their shopping cart.

For one, you should always offer a guest checkout option, as many people don’t want to go through the hassle of creating an account. More generally, try to minimize the number of steps involved as much as possible and work to reduce those clicks.

3. Provide Personalized Recommendations

Personalized recommendations are a big part of the retail experience, and it’s no different in the online world.

If you have the option, use a recommendation engine on the back end of your site to offer customers unique recommendations based on what they’ve previously browsed for and bought. You can implement these tools throughout the search page and also at the cart to entice shoppers with last-minute purchases.

4. Improving Loading Speed

And finally, it’s key to remember that we live in a world where people’s attention spans are greatly reduced from what they were even ten years ago, so make sure your website loads nice and fast.

You can improve speeds in a number of ways, such as by compressing images (but without compromising on quality) and using a website hosting service that’s known for utilizing fast and reliable servers.

Wrapping Up

Hopefully, you now have a solid idea of how to better design your website to be conducive to long-term customers. Start by getting that all-important smooth navigation down, and systematically work through the list until you have a site to be proud of. Good luck!

El Tigre: A Bold New Addition to San Antonio’s Coffee Scene

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – El Tigre is thrilled to open the doors of its new coffee shop and café to the general public at a brand new location within St. Paul Square, San Antonio’s historic downtown district that’s evolving into a world-class entertainment and cultural arts destination. (El Tigre, 2025)

Located at 123 Heiman Street, near the intersection of Heiman Street and Hoefgen Avenue, this new brick-and-mortar location at St. Paul Square follows in the footsteps of the beloved flagship coffee shop located in East Austin that opened in 2019.

Business hours at El Tigre at St. Paul Square are 7a.m. to 3p.m. CT daily, where patrons can look forward to a curated menu of specialty drinks from lattes to espressos to cappuccinos to drip coffee, matchas, cold brews, teas, mushroom cacao, and more.

For the food menu, patrons can enjoy breakfast sandwiches, avocado toast, and pastries in the morning with salads, bowls, and sandwich options available for lunch. Fans should stay tuned as this new location will soon roll out an updated menu in the coming weeks.

At the new El Tigre, the team will continue to work with all-natural and organic producers from around the world who specialize in sustainable and ethical farming practices – notably from Brazil and Honduras – while planting roots in the Alamo City to continue their mission of serving Texans through high-quality coffee and warm hospitality.

“We welcome all of San Antonio to visit El Tigre, and experience what makes our café so special. It’s not just about the quality coffee we serve, but the community we look to build – one that is inspired by creativity and unity.” –  El Tigre’s owner and Dreamers & Doers Hospitality’s founder Tatanka Guerrero

El Tigre at St. Paul Square will continue to be led by local resident and acclaimed restaurateur Tatanka Guerrero through his independently-owned Dreamers and Doers Hospitality Group, where his team will look to work with local producers to uplift the local San Antonio community while tapping international organic producers who share their same commitment to quality, community, and sustainability.

As a proud Chilean-turned-Texan, Guerrero first gained national prominence following his first restaurant Al Campo in Marfa which was preceded by other successful projects in Miami and Los Angeles. Most recently, Guerrero opened the intimate Oaxacan-and-Japanese design-inspired cocktail bar Trona in Austin’s growing Eastside neighborhood, where it quickly grew to prominence as one of the city’s most sought-after and well-designed bars.

Within Dreamers & Doers, other notable Texas concepts include the aforementioned coffee shop El Tigre; wine shop and bar Cork & Screw; tattoo shop Slowpoke Marfa; alfresco food court Camp East; and food truck court Arbor Food Park.

Originally founded in 1778, St. Paul Square is a historic multi-acre district found near downtown San Antonio, Texas, located just one hundred yards north of the Alamodome and a short walk from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

The District’s name is derived from Old St. Paul Methodist Episcopal Church constructed in the late 1800s. With a rich background rooted in San Antonio’s history, St. Paul Square is developing today into a vibrant entertainment and cultural arts district that showcases the beautiful history and diversity of the Alamo City.

It is home to a wide variety of businesses including locally-owned restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and coffee shops as well as performance venues, hotels, retail, offices, and more.

There is always something new and exciting going on at Pearl. From the farmers market to restaurants and special events, guests have a variety of of shopping and dining options. Some of my most memorable moments in San Antonio took place there. Today, I’m happy to share that today, Pullman Market is making its grand debut.

Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group’s Pullman Market, the largest culinary market in the Southwest, opens at Pearl on Tuesday, April 23. Visitors will be able to enjoy the market’s specialty grocer, featuring Texas-based produce and goods from over 150 suppliers throughout the state. Two of the market’s four restaurants, Fife & Farro and Mezquite, are also set to open on April 23. (Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, 2024)

“Pullman Market is the first project of its kind in San Antonio and the region. We’re most excited about providing a space for guests to get a taste of the ideals that make this city great: community, hospitality and high-quality food. There’s something for everyone at Pullman Market. You can grab a quick bite, stay awhile at one of our restaurants, discover fresh local ingredients or grab something premade to make mealtime easy – knowing it’s all been sourced with a commitment to quality and sustainability in an effort to offer the best we can for our community.” – Kevin Fink, Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group Partner

The 40,000-square-foot market is located in the former Samuels Glass Company headquarters at Pearl, which has continued to evolve as a culinary hub of San Antonio. Pearl is a dynamic neighborhood built around the historic Pearl Brewery located just north of downtown San Antonio. Located in the heart of Pearl, Pullman Market was designed by award-winning Texas architecture firms Clayton Korte and Burton Baldridge and interior design firm Joel Mozersky Design.

Pullman Market celebrates everything food related and is about creating easier relationships between local producers and the community. The specialty market features over 150 Texas vendors supplying fresh produce, meat, cheese, wine, beer, and more. The market also features a retail section with a selection of locally sourced home and beauty goods, chef supplies, toys and more, as well as a high-quality grab-and-go meal case. Visitors will also be able to pick up provisions from the on-site tortilleria and sourdough bakery.

In addition to the specialty market, Pullman Market features five casual to-go concepts with items such as burgers, tacos, ceviche, sandwiches, coffee and ice cream, the latter of which includes flavors created by award-winning pastry chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph. Pullman Market also includes four restaurant concepts, two of which will open on April 23: Fife & Farro and Mezquite.

Fife & Farro is a family-friendly, no-reservations-required eatery specializing in wood-fired sourdough pizza and handmade heritage grain pasta. Fife & Farro is open for dinner only from 5p.m. to 10p.m. Monday and Tuesday and for lunch and dinner from 11a.m. to 10p.m. Wednesday-Sunday.

The remaining Pullman Market full-service restaurants, Isidore and Nicosi, are scheduled to open later this spring. Isidore will feature an elevated dining experience where reservations will be required and the menu will change regularly, highlighting the best ingredients of the season. Nicosi, created by Bristol-Joseph, will be an intimate dessert bar with 20 seats and a no-phone policy. Stay tuned for an opening announcement in the coming weeks.

Pullman Market is located at 221 Newell Ave., San Antonio, TX 78215. The market’s operating hours are 8a.m. to 9p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 8a.m. to 10p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Pearl is a dynamic neighborhood built around the historic Pearl Brewery, which operated from 1883 to 1999. Located just north of downtown San Antonio on the banks of the San Antonio River, it is home to architecturally significant buildings like the brewhouse and stable – both built in 1894 – and numerous plazas. Today, Pearl is home to dozens of unique culinary concepts, one-of-a-kind retail, weekend markets, residential communities, innovative office tenants, the San Antonio campus of the Culinary Institute of America and the award-winning Hotel Emma. Pearl is a vibrant district where the community gathers to play, work and live; it is a place where things are made and celebrated with purpose and sincerity. We invite all to gather and experience the best of what San Antonio has to offer.

Over the past few months, I have been featuring the heartwarming story of Vinny The Pug. You can follow Vinny’s journey in the adorable picture book “The Life And Times of Vinny The Pug” by Allen Yhorst Kimble Jr. This book is perfect for dog lovers everywhere and includes pictures and coloring projects. About the author: Allen Yhorst Kimble Jr is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and grew up in the mid-1950s. Upon turning a young man, he entered the United States Air Force and served one year in Vietnam, eight years in Asia, and a total of 11 years total service time. While in South East Asia, he picked up photography as a hobby, which he still enjoy today. In 2001, he acquired a little pug in Orlando, Florida and named him Vinny. As a result of the 9-11 Terrorist Attacks, he took the family out west to Phoenix where Vinny learned to climb and pose atop boulders. His book “The Life And Times of Vinny The Pug” is a picture story book of his best friend Vinny.

About the book: “The Life And Times of Vinny The Pug” is a true-life picture book of the life and times of Vinny The Pug. It began on September 12, 2001 following the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington. Florida’s economy was left in shambles after the attacks. Overnight Orlando’s tourism industry ground to a halt, forcing Vinny’s human to move the family. They went out west to Arizona to find better employment opportunities.

When they arrived, Vinny was still just a puppy, not yet one year old. However, he was mature enough to be surprised by what he saw. Arizona was very different from what he remembered back home in Florida. Orlando was lush with greenery; there were trees, vegetation, and lakes everywhere. All at once it hit the little pug; his new home in Phoenix, Arizona was in the desert. This book of photographs shows how the little pug adapted to the harsh realities of living in Arizona. It shows how Vinny The Pug came to appreciate his new home in the the desert. Before a year had passed, he had even launched a challenge to set a new Guinness World Record.
