The biggest mini-golf showdown comes to the U.S. with a high-stakes cash prize across San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. Three Cities. One Championship. Photo: Mitch Lowe, used with permission.

Mini-golf is a fun, accessible recreational activity enjoyed by people of all ages. With its colorful courses, whimsical obstacles, and creative themes, it offers a playful twist on traditional golf. Unlike standard golf, mini golf requires no prior experience, making it ideal for families, friends, and even date nights. The game encourages lighthearted competition while providing a relaxed environment for socializing. Its appeal lies in its simplicity, affordability, and the excitement of navigating unique challenges like windmills, ramps, and tunnels. Whether indoors or outdoors, mini golf provides an enjoyable escape, combining skill, luck, and entertainment in a compact setting.

Attention mini-golf enthusiasts! If you’re competitive and would love a chance to compete in a tournament for a $10,000 cash prize, check out this opportunity from Holey Moley Mini Golf.

Austin, TX – Hot off dominating Australia’s mini-golf circuit, the  Holey Moley Open swings into the U.S. this spring across all three Texas locations. Not an average mini-golf tournament, the Holey Moley Open is a multi-day competition that will take place across Austin, Houston, and San Antonio, beginning with City Championships on March 25. Teams of 4 will compete across 9 exciting mini-golf holes to see who will be crowned the city champions. Winning teams advance to the State Final at Holey Moley Austin on April 8 for a shot at a $10,000 cash prize. Beyond the competitive action on the course, spectators can enjoy live DJs, dance under confetti showers, savor delicious food/drink specials, and meet Caddy’s in full costume slinging cocktails — making the Holey Moley Open this year’s most high-energy mini-golf experience. (Holey Moley Mini Golf, 2025)

Registration for a chance to compete began on February 25 and ends on March 10. Teams are made up of four golfers, and players must be at least 21 years to participate. There is no cost to submit a team registration form. Of the submissions, Holey Moley will select 60 teams to compete across the state. Winning teams at the March 25 City Championships will be offered travel accommodations to compete at the State Final in Austin on April 8. The State Final will consist of 18 holes (two courses).

Each team will play a round of nine holes, with a maximum of +6 strokes per hole to be kept score by an official caddy. Penalties will be dealt for off-course balls as well as interference, and in the event of a tiebreaker, one lucky team member will play an extra hole. The team with the lowest combined score wins.

Complete details about the Holey Moley Open, the registration form, and requirements for registration can be found online.

Austin’s newest female-led and garden-inspired mixology program

The Mansion is debuting a new immersive cocktail menu inspired by the resort’s lush grounds. Photo: Auberge Resorts Collection, used with permission.

Austin’s glamorous Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Resorts Collection’s The Mansion is debuting a new, immersive cocktail menu inspired by the resort’s lush grounds that incorporates the tastes, smells, and sights in the property’s beloved rose garden. The Mansion’s Lead Mixologist, award-winning Sarah Rahl, a veteran of the industry who has held positions at Proper Hospitality and Four Seasons, inspires guests to experience the property with rose-colored glasses, embracing the unique flavors that are exclusive to the renowned hotel. (Commodore Perry Estate, Auberge Resorts Collection, 2022)

The Location: Step through the Mansion’s ornate wrought-iron doors and be transported to an era when Texan businessman Edgar “Commodore” Perry and his wife Lutie presided over lavish Jazz Age soirées. Their intangible spirit lives on in the 10,800-square-foot Mansion, reimagined by acclaimed designer Ken Fulk as a glamorous social hub.

The Inspiration: Sip on craft cocktails curated by the Mansion’s Lead Mixologist, Sarah Rahl, that run the spectrum of the rose garden’s particular pantone: pinks, fuchsias, blush, and bright reds. Each cocktail boasts vastly varying flavor profiles, including body, heat, herbaceousness, salinity, and fresh produce.

From the refreshing Desert Rose cocktail, a medley of mezcal, watermelon and lime juice, to a custom Sunken Garden (referring to the on-property garden), featuring gin and sparkling wine, cucumber and lime juice, topped off with green chartreuse – there is a hyperlocal, artisanal cocktail for everyone. Guests and members can enjoy the spectacular cocktails in the charmingly distinct Mansion, or perhaps by the European-inspired chaises for poolside dining.

With this new female-led mixology program at The Estate, the property reaffirms its dedication to exceptional dining and celebrates the story of each cocktail’s unique inspiration and methods.

Chef and music line up includes Ashley Christensen, Fermin Nunez, Chris Shepherd, Joe Beddia, Chris Bianco, Superchunk, Shannon and the Clams, DJ Jazzy Jeff with DJ Mel, and more. Photo: Hot Luck Fest, used with permission.

Hot Luck Fest is officially back and returning to Austin this Memorial Day Weekend, May 26 – 29. Founded by James Beard Award–winner Aaron Franklin, Guerilla Suit principal and Mohawk owner James Moody, and Mike Thelin, cofounder of Feast Portland, Hot Luck feels more like a family get-together and a backyard cookout than just another big music and food festival. It brings together some of Aaron’s favorite chefs, cooks, and musicians from all over the country and beyond. Individual tickets and weekend passes for the four-day fest are available online. (Hot Luck Fest, 2022)

“Super stoked that we’re able to bring Hot Luck back this year. I’ve invited a whole lot of my homies to come down to Austin to cook,” said Aaron Franklin. “We’ve all been through a lot in the last year and a half, and it’s going to be fun to all get together and catch up, and help our friends at Southern Smoke, who continue to serve our industry unfailingly.”

The Hot Luck weekend means fun food events by day, featuring some of the most talented chefs in the world making food and serving good times at beloved Austin-area venues. At night, the focus shifts to music as guests can experience Austin nightlife with shows at some of Austin’s most iconic clubs, including Mohawk and Antone’s. This year, Hot Luck is excited to welcome Superchunk, Shannon and The Clams, DJ Jazzy Jeff with DJ Mel, Cam Cole, Joe Marcinek Band featuring George Porter Jr., (of The Meters) and more.

Hot Luck and the Southern Smoke Foundation are joining forces in a forward-looking partnership focused on helping folks in our industry when they need it most. To that end, the Hot Luck team announced recently that Southern Smoke will become the charity beneficiary of the Hot Luck festival.

Whether you want to attend every event for four days straight with the Whole Enchilada Pass or come check out one food or music event, Hot Luck has got you covered. Ticket prices for music shows start at only $10.
