Science Meets Magic: Built From Real Astronomical Data

Developed in collaboration with the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory (SAO)—a pioneering research center founded in 1890—Starstruck draws on decades of genuine astronomical research.

This isn’t just a standard digital exhibition. By translating complex scientific data into a fully immersive, walkable universe, the experience dissolves the boundary between the observer and the observed. Visitors will be able to touch, hear, and navigate the wonders of the cosmos using all of their senses.

🚀 Cosmic Travel Partners: During the journey, guests will travel alongside humanity’s most powerful space observatories, including the Hubble Space Telescope, the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), and the Chandra X‑ray Observatory.

🌟 Experience Highlights

What can you expect once you step inside? The journey breaks down into some truly breathtaking segments:

  • Launch from the Summit: The experience begins atop SAO’s Whipple Observatory, where a cosmic guide named Astro awaits to launch you into deep space.
  • A 3D Galactic Drift: Glide past thousands of galaxies, race through the Milky Way, and soar close to the Sun to witness its immense energy.
  • The Edge of Infinity: Encounter extreme exoplanets, stand beside a dying star, and walk right up to the edge of a supermassive black hole.

Celebrating Innovation & Human Accomplishment

Beyond the stunning visuals, Starstruck honors centuries of scientific curiosity. From the Big Bang to our modern solar system, the experience places you inside the story of discovery itself, reminding us that humans are not just observers of the cosmos, but an active part of it.

“This project demonstrates how immersive experiences can make complex scientific ideas more tangible and engaging. It’s exciting to see astronomical data translated into an experience that encourages curiosity and exploration.” — Randall Smith, Associate Director for Science at the Center for Astrophysics at SAO.

Bringing Starstruck to San Antonio marks the latest addition to Fever’s growing worldwide portfolio of cultural experiences, aiming to make science and art completely accessible through cutting-edge technology.

Commitment to Accessibility

Developed in close collaboration with the Smithsonian Office of Visitor Accessibility, Starstruck has been thoughtfully designed to ensure a welcoming experience for everyone. Accessibility features include:

  • Captions and visual descriptions
  • Wheelchair-optimized viewing pathways
  • Assistive listening devices
  • Complimentary companion access
  • Monthly low-sensory days alongside a fully trained staff

San Antonio Food Bank Restaurant Weeks 2026: Dine Out to Fight Hunger

San Antonio Food Bank Restaurant Weeks is taking place now through June 20, 2026. Photo: San Antonio Food Bank, used with permission.

San Antonio Food Bank Restaurant Weeks Returns: A Farm-to-Table Experience

The San Antonio Food Bank is thrilled to announce the return of its annual San Antonio Food Bank Restaurant Weeks, taking place from June 6 to June 20, 2026. This innovative initiative brings together some of San Antonio’s most beloved restaurants to fight hunger and feed hope through the power of locally grown food. (San Antonio Food Bank, 2026)

The Farm-to-Table Difference

What sets this event apart is its direct connection to the San Antonio Food Bank’s on-site agricultural program. Located at its main campus, the Food Bank cultivates 25 acres of fresh, seasonal produce that is distributed to families in need across Southwest Texas.

For a limited time, these same nutrient-rich ingredients will make their way into the kitchens of participating restaurants, creating a meaningful farm-to-table experience that gives back.

Each participating restaurant will feature a signature dish centered around an on-site harvest, bringing their own culinary perspective to the plate. Together, these offerings celebrate San Antonio’s dynamic dining scene while spotting the Food Bank’s innovative and sustainable approach to addressing food insecurity.

“Last year marked the launch of The San Antonio Food Bank Restaurant Weeks, and the response from our community was both powerful and inspiring. We are bringing it back this year because the need is still there, and we will never stop working to make a difference. This campaign plays a vital role in supporting our Summer Meals for Kids initiative and helping ensure no child goes without a meal during the summer months.” — Eric Cooper, President & CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank

How Your Dining Experience Makes a Difference

Proceeds from each featured dish will directly benefit the Food Bank’s Summer Meals for Kids campaign—a critical program designed to bridge the 20 million meal gap children face during summer break, providing vital nutrition for youth who may otherwise go without.

The Impact by the Numbers:

  • The Goal: Each establishment has committed to raising at least $300 through the event.
  • The Power of $1: Every single dollar raised equates to seven meals for local children.
  • How to Give: Diners can support the cause by enjoying signature dishes at participating restaurants, where $1 from each dish sold is donated back to the Food Bank.
  • Bonus Ways to Help: Each restaurant will feature a unique QR code, allowing guests to contribute toward that restaurant’s fundraising goal either in-store or online.

Participating Restaurants Include:

  • Supper at Hotel Emma
  • Pharm Table
  • The Jerk Shack
  • Sari-Sari Filipino Restaurant & Market
  • Naco Mexican Eatery (featuring James Beard Award semifinalist Chef Francisco Estrada)
  • …and many more!

The Magik Theatre, San Antonio’s premier theatre company for young audiences, has officially unveiled its 2026 summer camp program featuring a back-to-back schedule of blockbusters, more convenient schedules, and a newly renovated, icy-cool facility. (Magik Theatre, 2026)

Whether your child is a fresh preschool graduate stepping onstage for the first time or a seasoned high school performer, Magik has a stage waiting for them.

Why Choose Magik Theatre Camps?

At the heart of every Magik camp is a core mission: to ignite imagination, spark curiosity, inspire empathy, and foster a lifelong love of learning.

Magik’s teaching artists are a rare combination of working performers, skilled technicians, and seasoned arts educators. By weaving social-emotional learning into every session, they build confidence and creativity in a way that’s genuinely fun, deeply engaging, and surprisingly educational.

Plus, thanks to recent renovations, campers will enjoy enhanced accessibility, safety, softer theatre seats, and, most importantly, brand-new HVAC to keep everyone cool during the San Antonio summer.

🎭 2026 Camp Lineup by Age Group

🗓️ Special Specialty Weeks

Don’t need a full two-week commitment? Check out these standalone options:

  • Theatre Explorers Camp (June 1–5 | Grades K–8): Perfect for those who want to dip a toe into the theatre world. Introduces newbies to theatre basics through games, voice/dance exercises, and acting activities.
  • Summer Send-Off (August 3–7 | Rising K–8th): Beat the dog days of August with a camp that focuses on stagecraft, heavy on the “craft,” including puppetry, costume design, and more.

🚙 Perks for Parents: Stress-Free Logistics

Magik has designed this supercharged season with busy families in mind:

  • Consistent Schedules: Mainstage Musical, Drama Crew, and Intro to Musical Theatre all run for two weeks from June 8 – July 31 (9a.m. – 4p.m.).
  • Extended Care: Optional extended care is available one hour before and one hour after standard camp hours.
  • One Stop, Multiple Kids: Camps for different age groups are held at the same location with the same start times. No convoluted commutes.
  • Discounts: Save money with sibling and multi-session discounts.

🎟️ Spaces Are Limited—Book Your Spot Today

Because the Magik team took time earlier this year to revamp programming during building renovations, this year features the widest variety of day camps in recent history.

But hurry, Magik’s day camps are some of the hottest tickets in town and prone to sell out quickly.

Roaring into San Antonio: Interactive ‘Dinosaurs in Motion’ Exhibition Opens at The DoSeum!

Get ready to experience dinosaurs like never before! This summer, The DoSeum is bringing a breathtaking fusion of art, science, and history to San Antonio with the debut of Dinosaurs in Motion. (The DoSeum, 2026)

Running from May 23 through September 7, 2026, this highly interactive exhibition is fully included with general admission.

Where Art Meets Engineering

Sponsored by the H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust, Dinosaurs in Motion is an amazing blend of science, art, and innovation. The exhibition features 14 life-size, interactive dinosaur sculptures crafted entirely from recycled metal.

Created by the late artist and master sculptor John Payne, the exhibit invites families to take the reins. Visitors can use levers, pulleys, and remote controls to set these massive kinetic sculptures in motion, learning the mechanics behind the art.

What Kids (and Parents!) Can Expect:

  • Become an Apprentice: Kids can step into the role of an apprentice to John Payne, exploring the unique artistic and engineering skills required to build these intricate works.
  • Hands-on STEM Learning: Additional stations throughout the exhibit offer opportunities to experiment with interactive art and science projects, reinforcing critical STEM concepts through play.

A Word from The DoSeum

“The exhibition Dinosaurs in Motion embodies aspects of The DoSeum’s mission perfectly. Our team was drawn to the exhibition’s exciting mix of materials science, natural history, arts and interactivity. The themes and ideas presented in Dinosaurs in Motion inspired The DoSeum team to plan and develop a summer full of related program experiences. We’re excited for our guests to join in them.” — Dan Menelly, CEO of The DoSeum
